Manduka eKo Superlite Yoga Travel Mat Review

Manduka is one of the most esteemed names in yoga. They make excellent products, and are very in touch with yogi culture. And, like all good businesses, they are very invested in their customer.

They understand that though yoga is an ancient practice, modern-day practitioners are always on the go. Naturally, Manduka wants to go everywhere you go – so the Manduka SuperLite Travel Yoga Mat was created.

manduka eko superlite 4The Manduka Travel Mat weighs just 2.2 pounds, and is only 1.5 mm thick, but unfolds into a full-sized, fully functioning yoga mat.

Unlike some other mats, this travel mat is not seamed, folded, or riveted, so it may be rolled tightly or folded into your luggage or satchel as you wish.

And since it’s not scored in the manufacturing process any way, it lies flat on the floor or carpet.

Because it’s made with a tightly woven scrim, this mat won’t wrinkle on your travels. It will always unfurl to lie flat on your work-out surface, giving the user a smooth surface to flow on.

The Manduka line of yoga mats are known for their superior grip, and these Travel Mats are no exception. The surface of the mat provides great traction for your hands and feet, so you won’t be sliding around on your mat while you’re trying to hold a pose. And the bottom of the mat will grip the floor, so you won’t be dragging the mat along with you when you’re sliding into updog or other poses.

Manduka mats are easy to care for, and will last many years if treated right.

The manufacturer recommends cleaning your mat with a Manduka Cleaning Spray, or wiping down with a half water half apple cider vinegar solution. Don’t put your eKO mat into the washing machine or dryer, as it will cause the materials to disintegrate. Do not soak the mat in water or use any soaps for cleaning. And keep the mat away from excessive sunlight, as this may cause the mat to become brittle over time.

Critics love the sticky surface of the mat, which provides great traction for hands and feet.

And the portability was a big hit. Users love taking the mat traveling, whether it be for business or pleasure, and note that the mat “folds up small (into) your suitcase or easily into a backpack. And it gives great cushioning on carpeted surfaces.”

One user mentioned that the mat may wrinkle on some carpeted surfaces, but also noted that it can quickly be smoothed out, and is not a detriment to practice.

Manduka seems to win again with the eKO SuperLite Travel Mat. The company has designed an environmentally friendly mat for the yogi on the go, and while creating the mat with ease of portability in mind, it has not compromised on the superior functionality Manduka’s customers expect.
